Can I bridge a wireless connection from my laptop to Xbox 360 in order to access Xbox Live Services?

I have a wireless router in my house, but my Xbox is nowhere near it. Is it possible to bridge the wireless connection from my laptop to my 360 in order to acccess online services via Xbox Live. It would be very helpful if someone could tell me if they have managed to do it themselves, as I would rather save the £39.99 on the subscription if I learn that it is not possible. Thanks

  1. You can definately do what the other guy said but if you dont want to move your laptop around to your xbox everytime you want to connect, I have two options for you.

    A) Buy the wireless xbox 360 adapter. I believe it’s around 30-40 dollars. Now your 360 is wireless.

    B) Move the wireless router to wherever your xbox 360 is. That way, you have the internet connected to the router to allow wireless access from your laptop, and you can hardwire your 360 into the router.

Personally, I always go with option B. That way I don’t have to buy the wireless accessory for the 360 and all the computers in the house still have wireless access. In other words, go with option B unless you just refuse to move the router.

  2. Yes you can.

What you want to do is connect your laptop to your router wirelessly.

Then you need to connect your xbox to your laptop via ethernet.

Then you want to open control panel and select network connections, right click the wireless connection (the one that gives you internet) and click properties. Click on the advanced tab and check the box asking “Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection”. Then in the drop down box, select your Xbox connection (which should be called Local Area Connection)

If that doesn’t work, ignore everything I said after the – and do this:

Highlight both connections and click bridge connections. Feel free to get in touch with me about this 🙂 Always happy to help!

Oh and yes I have managed to do this myself!!
