Find that your favourite games and movies are no loading up properly when inserted into your Xbox 360 console? Read on to learn more on what you can do, and how to resolve this frustrating issue.
Dirty disc error – Why am I getting this?
When this error occurs and you find you have inserted a perfectly clean disc you are left confused and annoyed as to why your movies or games won’t load. Before we go any further below I have listed some of the most common symptoms associated with this problem.
1) Display freezes during game or movie displaying disc read error or dirty disc error.
2) Game or movie crashes and you will hear the drive trying to read from the disc. Console in some cases is not responsive to a console reset.
3) In some cases you will load up a game or movie at the dashboard to find an “open tray” message. As in the drive doesn’t recognise there is a DVD in the drive.
If you have experienced any of these symptoms you can understand how frustrating it can be. This problem could be down to a faulty drive, uncalibrated laser lens or simply a dirty lens.
What can I do to resolve this problem?
My first suggestion would be to purchase a lens cleaning kit and try that first, a lot of the time this problem occurs due to a dirty drive lens. If this fails and your console is still displaying a disc read error then we can clearly diagnose that there must be a problem internally. Please note to make sure your discs are free of dust and severe scratches.
Can I repair this problem myself?
All of the parts in an Xbox 360 can very easily be replaced, and there are guides available to do this. You have just got to make sure you are using the latest and most reliable guide before doing so. If you find a lens cleaner doesn’t solve the problem this doesn’t mean a part replacement is needed, in fact far from it. A good quality guide will show you alternative methods on how to solve this problem easily and quickly.
