CGRundertow – FEAR 3 for Xbox 360 Video Game Review

Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow video game review of F.E.A.R. 3 from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Day 1 Studios for the Xbox 360. F.E.A.R. 3 is also available for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PC. The F.E.A.R. franchise isn’t the first to blend elements of both first-person shooters (FPS) and horror games, but it is one of the best. And although the horror part of the recipe has been scaled back, F.E.A.R. 3 is another excellent title in an excellent series of shooters. You play the game as a guy called the Point Man, the protagonist of the original. It’s up to the Point Man to prevent the birth of a child. It turns out Alma, the series’ female antagonist, has become pregnant. And for obvious reasons, that little hellspawn cannot be born. This CGRundertow video game review features video gameplay footage of F.E.A.R. 3 for the Xbox 360 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

CGRundertow - FEAR 3 for Xbox 360 Video Game Review

  1. This game sucks but, hey, the first FEAR is one of the best single player shooters ever made, with hands down THE most satisfying gunplay ever made.

FEAR, 12 years later, still looks and plays fantastic. It has better lighting and physics than most modern games and has been updated to support modern resolutions. Get it.

  2. For me, the people saying this game wasn't scary….The original F.E.A.R most definitely was scary. You've got to remember it's an old game now, and back then, when it was released, the horror gaming genre was crying out for something different. It's Japanese style horror 'implement' (as this was not its primary or sole goal) was a breath of fresh air from all the same old zombie games.
I remember playing this game…it had to be done with the right setting, at the right time, with the right equipment (in other words, a big ass TV with headphones and the light off) play the game that way, get into the mood of it. It certainly was scary for me. In fact I rate the original very high in horror games (top five) and I guess those would be, in (probably) the following order…

    2.Silent Hill 1
    3.F.E.A.R 1+expansions
    4.DeadSpace 1
    5.Resident Evil 1

    (Sorry Five Nights At Freddie's)

  3. for me what it lacked in horror got made up for it in gun fights and killing!
I love the abundance of gunning down the enemy in this game
My favorite part was when i was using a shotty and the AI took a shot and yelled
    "Shit i lost a arm!"
I just about died laughing after he said that!
was not expecting that at all! LOL
The AI is pretty good in this game when played on the hardest difficulty.

  4. I dont understand it! John Carpenter helped make this game! We're talking about the guy that made Halloween and The Fog!! How is this game not terrifying????!!!

  5. Also in FEAR 3 the Point Man character was ruined. In FEAR/FEAR files he was a nameless faceless total badass. By showing his face the developers ruined the character.

  6. I don't get it, if this is a horror and you hear 'monster' noises behind you an stuff, why are all the enemies from 'generic merc group #364?' Sounds stupid, I'll pass on this.

  7. So on his review of FEAR 1 for PC, he said it was mediocre, but now he says it is a great series, even though FEAR 1 was better than 2 and 3? Also, FEAR was a lot scarier than he gives it credit for, it is a "Supernatural Horror" not monster stuff like Dead Space, so I don't think it should be discounted because of it's "Sci-Fi" elements. The FEAR games are some of my all time favorites.

  8. Any one else think this guy is trying way too hard to sound intellectual? It really sounds like when he was writing this review he was looking at a thesaurus and furiously writing down any words that sounded big or "smart sounding" XD

  9. i don't think anyone remembers that this game isn't even made by monolith, they made all the fear games except this game. that why this one got such crap review's

  10. Alan wake is pretty spooky, played in dark room with headphones on. Better than this shite anyway. IMHO.
